Planning has begun on a new building to serve as the home for ECE ILLINOIS. Intended to be much more than a collection of bricks and mortar, this new building will be the heart and soul of the department, providing a place for our students, faculty, and staff to interact and collaborate. It will also show the outside world the department’s strengths and vision for the future.
And it is our distinct honor to celebrate the legacy and impact of one of the greatest scientific minds of the twentieth century and a major figure in the history of ECE ILLINOIS by naming the new building John Bardeen Hall.
The University of Illinois considers this building a top priority for the campus. The Facilities and Services Planning Division has selected SmithGroup to head the design of the new ECE building. SmithGroup is widely recognized for positively impacting the world through high performance green buildings.
