Abstract:
Robert Potter, principal electrical engineer at Rockwell Collins, will discuss some examples of advanced technology development that range from using MEMS (Micro-Electro Mechanical Systems) devices for RF filtering applications to crystal-based miniature frequency standards.

Bio:
Robert Potter earned a BS in engineering physics and a MS and PhD in physics, all at Illinois. Since then, he has worked for Allied-Signal (now part of Honeywell), and Knowles Electronics. He is currently principal electrical engineer at Rockwell Collins. He works in the Advanced Technology Center, where he is the technical director for several programs. During his career, he has held adjunct teaching positions at University of Maryland, Bowling Green State University, and now at Coe College, where he teaches astronomy and physics.
