CITL Faculty Workshop Series: Best Practices for Teaching

Please join us in this faculty workshop series as we meet new colleagues to learn, discuss, and share best practices used by the best college teachers.  These strategies are based on pedagogy and the research literature. Our goal is to form a faculty learning community where you will leave with new ideas and approaches to immediately implement in your courses. Since each session builds on each other, we hope that you will be able to attend all three meetings.

Session 1:  Using Student Feedback to Improve Your Teaching and Learning
Wednesday, June 3, 2014
11:00 – 1:00 (Lunch Provided)
Room 428, Armory Building
I wish I had known that earlier, so that I could have added, changed…
I want to know how and what my students are learning
Why didn’t that work? Why did it work?

You have just received your ICES results, by analyzing it carefully, you can learn valuable information for next time.  However, by using an Informal Early Feedback (IEF) form this semester, you can receive timely feedback to immediately implement.  In this session, we will focus on the use of several informal feedback mechanisms and help you develop your own individualized IEF form.

Please mark these sessions on your calendar
All Wednesdays, 11:00 – 1:00 (Lunch at 11:00)
Room 428, Armory Building

Session 2 (June 18) Getting Students Active & Engaged

Session 3 (June 25) Your Tests - Are You Measuring Your Students' Learning Fairly?
