ECE graduate programs remain among the top in the nation

ECE ILLINOIS is again one of the top-ranked graduate engineering departments in the country for its graduate program, according to the annual survey by U.S. News and World Report.

ECE ILLINOIS is again one of the top-ranked graduate engineering departments in the country for its graduate program, according to the annual survey by U.S. News and World Report.

The graduate program in electrical engineering is tied with UC Berkeley for third, behind MIT and Stanford. The computer engineering program was ranked fifth, behind MIT, Stanford, Berkeley, and Carnegie Mellon.

“These rankings are a nice reminder that our commitment to sustaining our excellence in teaching and research even under challenging economic times is not going unnoticed,” said ECE Department Head Andreas C Cangellaris. “Our exceptional faculty and our terrific students deserve all the credit for this recognition of our program as one of the best in the nation.” 

The College of Engineering’s graduate program in engineering ranked fifth this year. Ten Illinois engineering programs are ranked in the top 10, and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is ranked first in its field.
