Faculty, staff, and students alike gathered to get a glimpse of the sky.

Although north of the "path of totality," the Engineering Quad was full of students, staff, and faculty this afternoon. From careful photographic setups to hastily constructed pinhole cameras fashioned from notecards, onlookers were ready to capture the rare images.

While everyone was looking up, we were looking at the engineering community. Our best photos of watchers are available on Facebook. If you caught an incredible image of the eclipse - or eclipse shadows - post them as comments to the album.

The next solar eclipse will be visible in the United States on April 8, 2024, with a path of totality again crossing close to the Illinois campus. In the meantime, as Jack Horkheimer always said, "keep looking up."
