Research Statement:
Masel works in three areas, fuel cells, sensors and MEMS. Masel's Group is developing formic acid fuel cells as battery replacements for portable electronics, developing the worlds smallest silicon based micro-fuel cells for drug delivery and other purposes, developing unusually selective sensors for explosives and chemical weapons for subway and airport screening and building security. Masel's group is also developing all of the associated MEMS valves, pumps, fluidic connections to get them to work.
