Research Statement:
I study the fluid dynamics of the atmosphere, using observations, theory, and numerical models of varying complexity. Current research foci include:
- Dynamical interactions between the stratosphere and the troposphere
- Jets and their variability
- Gravity waves in the mesosphere/lower thermosphere, and their interactions with the large-scale circulation
- Influences of ocean temperatures on midlatitude climate
