"Team LINKoln," a multi-disciplinary team of 22 students in various disciplines from across campus, placed second in the 2016 Department of Energy (DOE) Race to Zero competition in the Small Multifamily Housing Contest. The team included Qinru Li, ECE ILLINOIS undergraduate student, who served as the subteam lead for lighting, appliances, and home automation.

Thirty-one teams competed in the 2016 Race to Zero Student Design Competition, organized by the U.S. Department of Energy. They tackled real-world scenarios, designing cost-effective, zero energy homes for mainstream builders.
