Moshe Zakai
(PhD '58)
Moshe Zakai (PhD ’58) retired in September 1998 from his position as distinguished
professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Technion (Israel Institute
of Technology) in Haifa, Israel. He spent his career studying noise and is well
known for the development of fundamental differential equations for stochastic
systems and for the development of a fundamental filtering formula known as the
Zakai equation. Internationally recognized for his contributions, Zakai has been
named an IEEE Fellow, a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, and
a Foreign Associate of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering.
