Services:

  • Support of all the undergraduate teaching laboratories.
    • ECE 110
    • ECE 120
    • ECE 210
    • ECE 385
    • ECE 395
    • ECE 445
  • Maintenance and calibration of lab equipment.
  • Providing Electronic Components for ECE lab classes.
  • Surface-mount soldering assistance.
  • The staff is also available to answer electrical engineering questions.
  • Electronic repairs from other campus units, including custom cable fabrication and repairs, equipment repairs, PCB assembly, and prototype PCB milling.

In-House PCB Prototyping Guidelines:

  • Single-sided or two-sided PCBs only.
  • No solder-resist coating or silk screening is available.
  • No chemical through-hole plating is available.
  • Through-holes and vias can be fitted with copper rivets.
  • Four rivet sizes are available.
  • The total number of rivets may not exceed 50.
  • Minimum trace width 0.3mm -- Trace width greater than 0.3mm recommended.
  • Recommended spacing between traces is 0.3mm or greater.

Notes on EasyContac rivet-style through-hole plating system:

When setting up a file to accommodate the use of the EasyContac system, be sure to keep in mind the hole size and minimum pad size required for each rivet.

  • 0.6mm internal diameter / 0.8mm external diameter rivet – requires 0.9mm hole, 1.4mm pad
  • 0.8mm internal diameter / 1.0mm external diameter rivet – requires 1.1mm hole, 1.7mm pad
  • 1.0mm internal diameter / 1.4mm external diameter rivet – requires 1.5mm hole, 2.5mm pad
  • 1.2mm internal diameter / 1.6mm external diameter rivet – requires 1.7 mm hole, 2.7mm pad
